HIGH PULP KAMISHINJO FEAT. JACOB MANN

Seattle based jazz collective High Pulp showcase their eclectic range of influences on new track ‘Kamishinjo (feat. Jacob Mann)'. The band have a sound that is hard to define, their recent releases referencing everything from punk and shoegaze, to hip-hop and electronic music, all set against a complex jazz backdrop made up of a core 7 members that all hail from different musical backgrounds. “We’re a bunch of outsiders who refused to be kept out,” says drummer Bobby Granfelt. “We’ve never had an academic approach to jazz—most of us grew up playing in DIY bands—so it was the rawness and the energy and the absolute freedom of the music that called to us in the first place.” ‘Kamishinjo’ is a dreamy swirl of synthesisers, saxophones, guitars and hip-hop beats, the third in a consistent run of singles of from upcoming album Pursuit of Ends, out April 15th on Anti-Records. -Dan Peeke
